Park51 Project

Park51 project is a Mosque building project in the center of New York city which is located 2 blocks away from Ground Zero September 11 attack. The developers have planned a 13-story, $100 million Islamic community center, complete with a pool, gym and 500-seat auditorium, of which the mosque would be a part.
The project itself is funded by Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf who had worked in the past to improve the relation between Islam and the west.
The project sparks controversial issues such as the 9/11 attacked by the Muslim extremist which until present days still sparks anger to the American.
The Governor of NYC David Paterson is said to have stepped in into the issues and proposing another location which is own by the government.
But Mr. Rauf said that the mosque is on private property and funded privately, therefore no one has the right to move location away. He also stated that lower Manhattan Moslems are in urgent need of a Mosque which is fortunate enough to be near with Ground Zero.

I heard that the President, Obama, has approved the project.
